Editing previous response:
On March 31st Oregon school districts will gain local control regarding masking in schools. This is due to projections from the Oregon Health Authority that there will be a notable decrease in the number of cases of COVID 19 by then. To engage with all of our shareholders on this matter we are launching this survey. The district is also required to consult with the local public health department before making any changes to current protocols.
Masks Become Optional But Quarantine Protocols Are Expected to Remain Required
It is important to note that while masking will become a local decision on March 31st, the COVID quarantine protocols (at this point) remain required. If masks are made optional, unmasked students and staff are likely to miss more school and extracurricular activities due to quarantine because unmasked, unvaccinated individuals within 6 feet of a positive case will be considered close contacts. Also, unmasked individuals are not eligible for the "test-to-stay" program.
The district welcomes your input on this matter. Thank you for taking the time to complete this brief survey.
